History Of Brynmawr

Brynmawr Is A Town That Has A Rich Past And A Proud One At That. Brynmawr Is Known For Being A Market Town And Is Located In South Wales. Brynmawr Is Often Known As The Highest Town In Wales Rising An Amazing 1500 Feet Above Sea Level.

Brynmawr Was Always A Small Town But Grew Heavily In The Early 1800's With The Arrival Coal And The Iron Industry. Brynmawr Has Changed Alot In The Last Few Years, Compared To 40 Years Ago When You Had A Fully Functional Outdoor Pool And A Semtex Factory That Provided Jobs For Hundreds Of People.

The Outdoor Pool In Brynmawr Was Built By A Group Of Men Who Did Not Get Paid In Money, But Got Paid In Cooked Meals. Below Is A Picture Of The Men That Worked On The Outdoor Swimming Pool And A Picture Of It Being Built.

In Essance, Brynmawr Has Not Changed Alot Over The Years, If You Look At A Picture Taken In The Early 1900's And Look At One Now, The Town Looks Very Similar.

Brynmawr Did Not Change Into Gwent Untill 1978, Before This Brynmawr Had There Own Council, Below Is The Last Picture Of The Council Before They Came Into Gwent.
